Sport England announce £195m package to help grassroots sport clubs

Sport England has introduced a £195 million package to assist community grassroots sport and physical activity through this challenging time. This includes a £20 million Community Emergency Fund to support sport clubs and organisations facing short term financial hardship.

We want the sector not just to come through this crisis but be in a position to thrive again in the future.
(Tim Hollingsworth, Sport England Chief Executive)

Is my club eligible for the Community Emergency Fund?

The Community Emergency Fund is available to any organisation delivering community sport and physical activity, such as local sports clubs and community organisations. The fund is specifically targeted at clubs experiencing financial hardship and those who have had to stop activity due to the ongoing crisis. Some examples of the costs that the fund will help to cover include rent, utility costs and equipment hire.

How much support is available?

Clubs and organisations will be able to bid for grants between £300 and £10,000.

When can I apply?

The fund is open from now until 31st July 2020. This gives clubs plenty of time to submit an application and ensure that the relevant criteria is met. We encourage all clubs and organisations to carefully consider their application before submitting as you will only be able to apply for funding once.
