About Bury St. Edmunds Basketball Club

Bury St. Edmunds Basketball Club caters for a range of abilities and ages as it offers both local league and national league basketball for players from the age of 10 upwards. West Suffolk's oldest basketball club, known as the Bulldogs, decided to introduce teamo in the summer of 2018 as it provided them with a management platform to organise their volunteer-led club.

It doesn't replace or de-value the wonderful volunteers we have, but it takes a ton of stress out of organising ourselves, which is essential in supporting our growth as a volunteer-led club.

Gaining Clubmark

Using teamo has allowed the Bulldogs to better promote their club on their website and social media which led to them becoming a Clubmark club. Clubmark is a universally acknowledged cross-sport accreditation scheme for community sports clubs, recognising them as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages.

The "Guardian" feature is also really helpful, as it gives the players and coaches a direct line between one another (which is essential for feedback purposes), whilst maintaining appropriate safeguarding, which is essential for us as a Clubmark club.

Time Saver

Teamo is designed to make the lives of volunteers who run their teams and clubs easier, by saving them endless hours of admin tasks. The Bulldogs have certainly found this the case as they use the app to inform members proactively of their schedule for the season, meeting times and places, venues for fixtures and the selected team.

Running a sports club, you NEVER get free time, but Teamo certainly takes a lot of the chasing up and menial, non-value activities off your hands to focus on the bigger picture.

What The Club Think

At first, there was a feeling of "Why do we need it?" at the club but that attitude quickly changed amongst players, coaches and the committee. The junior players parents love it as they can communicate with coaches easily, as well as seeing their child's schedule in the one place.

Our committee also love it, and the players have fed back that they love seeing the matchday squad picked and numbers assigned... it all looks very professional.
