Paste, Drop & Fit

Most clubs keep their fixtures, league tables and results in a spreadsheet. Until now, getting them onto the club website usually meant taking a screenshot, which ends up cramped, can't be searched, and is almost impossible to read on a phone.

The website editor now has three new ways to get content onto a page:

  • 📋 Paste: copy cells in Excel, press ⌘V, and they become a real table on your page.
  • 📥 Drop: drag a spreadsheet or a picture from your desktop straight onto the page.
  • 🖼️ Fit: put a picture up at its original size instead of cropping it into a photo frame.

What each kind of paste becomes: cells from a spreadsheet become a table, a picture becomes an image, and text becomes a text block

You'll find all of them in Website → Pages. Open a page and choose Edit page content.

📋 Paste a table straight from Excel

Select the cells you want in Excel (a league table, a fixture list, a set of results) and copy them as normal. Then head to your page.

1. Choose Paste from the + menu

Click the + on the line between two blocks, where you want the new content to go. The Add content block menu now has a Paste tile, between Table and Widget.

2. Press ⌘V (or Ctrl+V on Windows)

The Paste from clipboard panel opens and waits for you to paste. Press ⌘V on a Mac or Ctrl+V on Windows. Teamo doesn't look at your clipboard until you do, which is also why your browser won't ask for permission.

If nothing happens for ten seconds, the panel will tell you it didn't see a paste. Click inside the dashed box and press ⌘V again. It's usually because focus moved somewhere else.

3. Check the preview, then Insert

Teamo works out what you've pasted, tells you what it will become, and shows you a preview. Nothing is added to your page until you click Insert. If it isn't what you expected, click Paste something else and try again.

The paste preview: Tab-separated rows, becomes a table, followed by a preview of a four-team league table and the Paste something else and Insert buttons

  • Why a preview? Your clipboard might hold something you copied hours ago and forgot about. The preview means you always see it before it goes on a public page.
  • Merged cells and colours don't come across when a paste arrives as plain text, and the panel will say so. The numbers and words all do.
  • You get the cells, not a picture. When you copy cells in Excel, Excel also puts a picture of them on the clipboard. Teamo always uses the cells.

4. A real table, in your club's colours

Insert adds a proper table block to your page, styled in your club's colours. The text can be selected and searched, and the table works on a phone. It isn't a picture of a table.

  • Several tables on one sheet? Each one becomes its own table block.
  • Blank spacer columns are tidied up to a single gap, so the spacing you meant to keep stays, and a wall of empty columns doesn't.
  • Pictures and text work too. Paste a photo or a poster and you get an image block; paste a paragraph and you get a text block.

📥 Drag and drop a file onto the page

If your spreadsheet or picture is already saved on your computer, you don't need to open it. With the page open in Edit page content, drag the file from your desktop or a folder and hold it over the page. A Drop it here outline appears. Let go, and Teamo treats it exactly as if you had pasted it.

  • An Excel workbook (.xlsx): every sheet with something on it becomes its own table block.
  • A picture: becomes an image block.
  • The outline just says Drop it here. Your browser doesn't tell Teamo what kind of file it is until you let go.

🖼️ Use original size, or crop it

When you add a picture to a website page, the image editor now gives you a choice. Previously, every picture was cropped into a photo frame. That suits a team photo, but a results table or a poster gets trimmed and shrunk until it's unreadable.

The two buttons in the image editor: Use original size keeps the whole picture, Crop it fits it to a photo frame

  • Use original size puts the picture up at its own shape and size, with nothing cut off. On a website page it's the first button, because it's usually the one you want.
  • Crop it works as before: choose landscape or portrait, zoom, rotate and trim.
  • This choice is only in the website editor. Profile pictures and other images elsewhere in Teamo still crop as they always have.

🔍 Show a picture at full size

Already have pictures of tables on your site? You don't have to re-upload them. Click the pencil on an image block to open it, then click the expand button (the square of corner marks). Its tooltip reads “Show at full size: for a diagram, chart or results table.” The picture then shows at its natural size instead of being squeezed into the photo tile.

An open image block of a results table showing its row of controls with the expand button highlighted; a closed block below shows only a pencil and drag handle

  • An open block shows the full row of controls: height, caption, expand, change image, save (the green tick), delete and drag. A closed block shows just the pencil and the drag handle.
  • You decide, not Teamo. Full size is never switched on automatically. A wide team photo would look wrong blown up, and only you know which pictures are diagrams.
  • Even better: if you still have the original spreadsheet, paste it in as a real table and delete the picture. It'll be sharper, searchable, and much easier to read on a phone.

💡 Good to know

  • Copy from Excel itself where you can. It carries more detail across than copying from a PDF or an email.
  • Don't see the Paste tile? Some page layouts only allow certain kinds of block. Paste appears wherever a table, an image or a text block is allowed.
  • Keyboard shortcuts: ⌘V on a Mac, Ctrl+V on Windows and Chromebook.
  • Remember to save. Pasted and dropped content is added to the page like any other block. Click Done when you're finished, then publish your site as normal.
