Team sponsors: let local businesses back your teams

Team sponsors: let local businesses back your teams

Most clubs already have a few local businesses who'd happily put their name to a team: the café the parents meet in, the physio half the squad sees, the pub that hosts the end-of-season do. What's been missing is an easy way to ask, take the money and show them off properly.

Now every team on Teamo can have a main sponsor and up to eight supporters.

💷 How it works

  1. You set the price once. A main sponsor pays for the season or monthly to the season end (for example £400, or £40 a month). Supporters come in two levels, a Big supporter at £20 a month and a Supporter at £10 a month. Give your first team its own price if it's worth more.
  2. You share a link. Send each team its own link (it works well in the parents' WhatsApp group), or one link where people pick the team.
  3. They pay by card. The business chooses the team, adds its name, logo and website, and pays through your club shop. Their place is held for 15 minutes while they do it, so two people can't buy the same spot.
  4. You approve it. Nothing goes public until you've checked the logo and link. If it isn't right, ask for a change or refund in one click.

🏟️ Where sponsors appear

  • In the app. The main sponsor heads the team page with its logo and a link to its website, and supporters are listed underneath, Big supporters first.
  • On your website. The main sponsor card sits in the team page header, and a Supported by band runs under the team's tabs. On a phone, the band tucks neatly under the team menu. Approving a sponsor republishes the page for you.
  • On every fixture. When members open a fixture, they see who's supporting the team that day.
  • On results in the club feed. Share a result and the main sponsor rides along in a band under the score.

🚀 Getting started

Go to Manage → Club Products → + New product, then choose Team main sponsor or Team supporters. It takes about five minutes, and there's a step-by-step tutorial if you want it.

Team sponsors sit alongside player sponsors, so a club can now offer three things: a player, a team, or a place among the team's supporters. Selling player sponsorships shows how the player side works.
