TeamoPay is Teamo’s built-in payments system, powered by Adyen. One account, one dashboard, one set of payouts — for everything your club collects.
This page answers the questions club admins ask most often. If yours isn’t here, drop us a line on chat and we’ll add it.
TeamoPay is the payment system inside Teamo. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and (from July 2026) UK Direct Debit all run through the same account, settle into the same balance, and pay out to the same bank account on a schedule you choose.
It’s powered by Adyen — the same payments platform used by Uber, Spotify, eBay, Microsoft and McDonald’s — so the rails behind your club’s payments are the same rails that handle a few billion transactions a year for the largest businesses in the world.
Before TeamoPay, clubs typically ran cards on Stripe and Direct Debit on GoCardless — two accounts, two logins, two reconciliations every month. TeamoPay replaces both with a single account that handles every payment method.
The day-to-day differences:
Available today: Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Apple Pay and Google Pay are surfaced automatically on supported devices — you don’t need to enable them separately.
From July 2026: UK Direct Debit. Members enter their bank details once, authorise a mandate, and future invoices charge automatically. Best for season memberships and instalment plans.
You can enable both methods club-wide, then narrow the choice on individual products — for example, Direct Debit only for season subs and cards only for tournament entries. Webshop and public-page products can’t use Direct Debit (mandates require a logged-in member).
There are two components to every payment: a transaction fee (charged on the payment method) and the Teamo Platform Fee (charged on the transaction value).
Transaction fees
| Method | Fee |
| Card payments (Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay) | 1.5% + 20p |
| UK Direct Debit (from July 2026) | 1% + 20p |
Teamo Platform Fee
A flat 1% (minimum 5p) on every payment, regardless of method. The Platform Fee for your existing products is locked in at today’s rate — you won’t see an increase on anything you’ve already built.
Yes. The payment account is set per product, so you can run TeamoPay alongside your existing Stripe or GoCardless accounts for as long as you like. There’s no “all or nothing” switch.
In practice, most clubs migrate gradually — new products go on TeamoPay, old ones stay where they are until renewal.
The Teamo side — picking a business type, confirming the club address — is about 5 minutes. After that you’re handed to Adyen’s onboarding to verify the club’s identity and bank account. Adyen’s side varies by business type: a partnership or association is usually same-day; a limited company can take a day or two while Companies House is checked.
Teamo polls Adyen every few seconds during the wait and flips the account to Live as soon as all four verification checks come back green.
The four Adyen verification checks all need to turn green before your account goes live. Teamo refreshes them automatically.
You’ll need:
Everything is collected during the Adyen onboarding step. You won’t need to send anything to Teamo by email or post.
This is the question most admins get stuck on. Five options:
If you’re not sure, partnership or association is almost certainly the right choice.
The legal entity picker. Partnership or association is the recommended choice for most clubs.
Not yet. TeamoPay is UK-only and GBP-only at launch — your club’s timezone needs to be in the UK and the club currency needs to be GBP. We’re actively working on EU and rest-of-world support; if you’d like to be notified when it lands, drop us a line on chat and we’ll add you to the list.
July 2026. UK Direct Debit at 1% + 20p per transaction, with mandates collected through the same Adyen-powered checkout members already use for cards. We’ll let you know in-app a couple of weeks before it goes live so you can prepare which products to switch over.
Any club admin with TeamoPay access can issue refunds. Open the Payment Centre, find the payment, click Refund. You can refund the full amount or any portion of it; the default is the maximum refundable (invoice total minus any prior refunds).
Refunds go back to the same card or bank account that paid. Card refunds appear in 3-5 working days; Direct Debit refunds settle on the next BACS cycle.
One thing to note: the TeamoPay transaction fee on the original payment isn’t returned to the club. This matches how every other payments processor works (Stripe, GoCardless, PayPal — same rule).
Refunds open inline from the payment row. Full or partial, back to the original card or bank account.
You choose how often funds settle to your club’s bank account: daily, weekly or monthly. The schedule is set in TeamoPay › Settings › Payout schedule and can be changed at any time.
Daily payouts are best if cash flow matters — the funds land in your account the next working day. Weekly or monthly payouts mean fewer line items on the bank statement, which some treasurers prefer for reconciliation.
Nobody by default — you opt people in. In TeamoPay › Settings › Notifications you can pick which club members get payout-completed emails and which get dispute and chargeback alerts. The two are separate lists, so you can route disputes to the treasurer and payouts to the chair (or whatever combination works).
From TeamoPay › Settings › Manager access, search for the member and grant TeamoPay manager rights. They’ll see the TeamoPay tab from then on, with full access to settings, refunds, payouts and the account-holder details.
Revoking access is a single click from the same screen. There’s no limit to how many managers a club can have.
Yes — per product. Each product remembers the Stripe or GoCardless account it used before you moved, so flipping it back is one click on the product’s payment settings. There’s no commitment and no lock-in.
They continue to clear on the original rails. Members aren’t switched mid-payment — if a parent has been paying instalments on a season membership through GoCardless, those instalments stay on GoCardless until the schedule ends. Only new invoices minted from a migrated product go through TeamoPay.
AutoPay (the legacy stored-card auto-charging system) is paused while we wire up TeamoPay’s own stored-card vault. Members can still pay with saved cards through the new checkout — the difference is that AutoPay’s background charging is offline for the time being.
This is temporary. Once the two systems share a token vault, AutoPay-style background charging will work on TeamoPay accounts too.
From TeamoPay › Settings › Danger zone. Deletion unwinds the Adyen account holder, removes the balance account, and stops payouts. You can’t delete an account with an outstanding balance — settle to the club bank first, then delete.
Yes — TeamoPay sits on top of Adyen, which holds the highest tier of payment-card-industry security accreditation.
The payment system your club uses to collect subs, match fees and kit. You’ll see it as a normal card checkout — nothing changes about how you pay, beyond your club having a single, consistent payments experience.
Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. From July 2026, UK Direct Debit will also be available for recurring fees like season memberships.
Only if you opt in at the checkout. Saved cards are stored securely with Adyen (the payments processor), not with Teamo. You can remove a saved card at any time from your account settings.
This is your bank’s Strong Customer Authentication step (3D Secure 2). It’s required by UK and EU law on most card payments and helps protect you against fraud. Your bank decides when to ask — Adyen and Teamo don’t make that call.
Contact your club admin or treasurer. Refunds are issued from the club’s TeamoPay account and arrive back on the card or bank account you paid with — card refunds take 3-5 working days, Direct Debit refunds settle on the next BACS cycle.
TeamoPay is available to every UK Teamo club today. To turn it on, open Manage › Payment Accounts inside the app and click Get started with TeamoPay.
If you’d prefer a walkthrough first, book a 15-minute session with one of the team on chat. We’ll cover the setup steps and any questions specific to your club.
