When a new season starts, some players move up to the next team and others stay put. In in age-group sport you also need to catch anyone who has drifted into the wrong team, or is too old or too young for the one they’re in. Teamo lets you do all of this without spreadsheets: find the right players with the member search, then move them in bulk with the Squad Allocator.
In short: archive last season so this year’s teams are saved as history, use the age search to identify who needs moving, add them to their new team with the Squad Allocator, and remove them from the old one with the Squad Deallocator.
Move players after you’ve created and gone live with your new season, so the changes land in the right place. Archiving the old season transfers your teams, groups and registration answers into the new one and preserves last season’s teams and memberships as history. This means you never lose this year’s record.
See New Season Setup for the full walkthrough. Note that archiving a season cannot be undone, so do it at the point you’re ready to roll over.
Open Manage Club → Members Center. The search box takes filters as well as names, and two of them do the heavy lifting here.
Find players by age, as at a date: Age-group eligibility is usually set by a player’s age on a cut-off date (in RFU rugby, for example, their age at 31 August). The age: filter matches exactly that. Combine a lower and upper bound with an “as at” date:
age: >11 <13 @1/9/2026
>11 means 11 and over, <13 means under 13 — so this returns everyone who will be 11 or 12 as of 1 September 2026.age: <13 @1/9/2026.2026, not 26), with / between the parts. Leading zeros are optional — @1/9/2026 and @01/09/2026 are the same date.Run this against each team to see who falls outside the age band you’d expect for it — that surfaces both players who are ready to move up and anyone sitting in the wrong team.
Find who’s currently in a team or group. Use the InGroup: filter with the group name. Add a * wildcard so the exact spelling doesn’t trip you up:
InGroup: under11*
This matches any group whose name starts with “under11” (e.g. “Under 11s”). Without the * it looks for an exact match, so the wildcard is the safer habit.
Tip: there are more filter hints inside the search box itself, including searching by school year, and finding members with expiring qualifications.
The Squad Allocator assigns multiple players to a team in a few clicks.
Guardians move automatically. When you move a player, their linked guardian(s) go with them, so you don’t need to move guardians separately.
The Squad Allocator adds players to the new team, but it doesn't remove them from the old one. To complete the move, or to correct a player who has ended up in the wrong team, use the Squad Deallocator:
Doing both steps leaves each player cleanly in their new team only.
Sometimes a player is deliberately placed outside their normal age grade, either playing up into an older group or down into a younger one. In many sports, this requires governing body approval or a formal dispensation (for example, RFU age-grade approval).
You can keep that approval on record against the player using the Qualifications tool:
That gives every out-of-age player an auditable record with the paperwork attached, and you can pull up members with expiring qualifications to chase renewals before the next season.
